Hi there,

Doesn't stop the search when a mate has been found

In a lot of engines!
Ply 50 and mate in 8 for an example.

Mate-distance is an other problem ... not right in a lot of engines.

Or ...
playing from Syzygy and thinking with 5 pieces on board (syzygy with 5-pieces) minutes of time.

Or ...
For a mate in 1 minutes of time with ply 50 and such things.

Horrible!!

Its very nice that you are looking on such things!
I will download and must see that ...

Thanks for your new version!

Best
Frank

Hi,

I think that the mate-distance is now correct in my program. But with the selective search, it dosn't always find the shortest mate first. An intermediate quiet move may have been pruned

Can people here please give us the estimated rating of every new Engine or version when they post them here?

A new Velvet ... Uralochka must be angry now!

From Velvet GitHub ... like such release information so much!
No wonder that Velvet produced the lowest win-average from TOP-60 engines!
And 40 +47 is very danger for the current number 1 Uralochka.
Velvet goes directly in the fight vs. Uralochka and will back rank 1.

Code: Select all

Statistics

Elo change: v6.0.0 compared to v5.3.0 against the same set of opponents
Move range: grouped by games won in less than x moves (each game only belongs to one group, so a game that ended in 57 moves would belong to the group "60", but not "80", "100", etc.)

Move range Elo change
40 +47
60 +27
80 +45
100 +58
120 +34
>= 120 	+40

Nice to see a newer Velvet, but its style has regressed a little since it's gotten stronger.
Version 4.1.0 played some amazing chess...
So, for now, Uralochka remains the most ruthless attacker in my view, despite its own increase in strength! :)
