Another annoying thing about Houdini was that you could only have one working version on your computer (aside from the free version).
So even though I have license keys for Houdini 2,3,4 and 5, I can't use them because Houdini 6 has been activated.

It can't be compiled for Linux w/o Herculean effort. Since it uses "windows.h".
But I managed to compile these windows executables on Linux.
But I'm not sure if it's legal to share them?

Code: Select all

5180B houdini-x86-64bit.exe
5180B houdini-x86-64bit-pext.exe
2736B houdini-x86-64bit-popcnt.exe

I don't know about that, Graham. I have Houdini 4, 5.01, and 6.03 all active and able to analyze in Chessbase 17.

get Houdidit here:

I find it most useful for solving "mate in n" problems. You'll need to DL the Nalimov 6 man EGTBs for best mate solving performance.

Set the config setting "Tactical mode" to 1.

You're lucky. :)
If you doubleclick on the earlier exes, do they show that your license is still valid?

I can't see a download link on this page — am I missing something?

I paid for Houdini 6 but changed PCs so can't access it. I'm interested in trying "Houdidit", and don't see a problem if he violated the Stockfish license.

My apologies, it appears it isn't available any longer.
Not sure when it was pulled, though, but I haven't been active on this topic, so there might have been new "legal" issues that occurred? Can anyone elaborate?

All of them show licensed to me (more specifically. my email address).
