Rebel 14 has source code since it was GPL, the old Rebels don't have since the are all written in 32 bit assembler.flok wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 10:24 pmDoes it include sourcecode?Rebel wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 9:45 pm On request, some of my old stuff.

Re: Old Rebel Stuff
There is no control over archive.org, it crawls the internet and saves websites, likely ignoring large downloads. I wonder how legal that is BTW.

Re: Old Rebel Stuff
That's not entirely true. archive.org processes and follows the robots.txt file.
Also there's an upload-page where you can upload (large) binaries for preservation.

Re: Old Rebel Stuff
instead of archive.org (with many websites, but downloads often not working) you could consider this:
https://vetusware.com/
(there already is some old chess stuff, at least CM2000)
And there are some similar sites:
**My Abandonware** hosts a large collection of abandonware games, allowing users to search by genre, year, or platform. The site includes both downloadable games and information about each title. Many (DOS) chess games
**ClassicReload** offers a browser-based platform to play abandonware games directly without needing downloads. It features a variety of classic titles from different genres and platforms; many DOS chess games
**WinWorld** is a repository for vintage software, including operating systems, applications, and games. It aims to preserve software history and offers a wide selection of abandonware for various platforms. For chess i found only CM3000.

Re: Old Rebel Stuff
Digital archiving is actually always bad because it makes you dependent on corporations.
If you want to archive your work "forever and ever", then you can only do it in writing.
And these collected works (source code) can then be made available to libraries.
