Re: New REBEL's
REBEL-EXTREME is our flagship when it is about playing unbelievable sharp games, but it comes with a price of an 140 elo loss in comparison with Rebel 16.3, but still good for an estimated CEGT rating of 3368 elo. The level of aggressiveness is measured by Stefan Pohl great tool Engines Aggressiveness Statistics, or EAS.

That's a long time to wait given how exciting this is.pohl4711 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 3:06 pmREBEL-EXTREME is our flagship when it is about playing unbelievable sharp games, but it comes with a price of an 140 elo loss in comparison with Rebel 16.3, but still good for an estimated CEGT rating of 3368 elo. Testrun of Rebel Extreme started: 14 weaker opponents of my full ratinglist, exactly the same opponents, Patricia 3.0 and 3.1 played against. So, we will see, which EAS-engine is stronger and which has the higher EAS-score. Cant wait to see the results (will take 4-5 days (running on one of my old AMD machines)). Testrun of Rebel EAS 2.0 will follow, against the same 14 opponents.Code: Select all

To be fair, there are many people who can't afford to keep relatively up to date with modern computers. Been there and will be there again in a few years from now.
I don't see an issue with enthusiasts asking nicely if it's possible to have an exe for an older computer.

Re: New REBEL's
So, here an early intermediate result:
My testrun of Rebel Extreme vs. 14 opponents (same as in my Patricia testruns) is runnning.
2400 games played (367 wins so far for Rebel Extreme, so the EAS-score is not yet really stable, but its worth a look), I used my Gauntlet EAS-Tool for this intereidiate calculation:
Code: Select all
bad avg.win
Rank EAS-Score sacs shorts draws moves Engine/player
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1 258909 37.06% 24.80% 09.30% 74 Rebel Extreme avx2

I agree, but...Graham Banks wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 3:09 am To be fair, there are many people who can't afford to keep relatively up to date with modern computers. Been there and will be there again in a few years from now.

BTW, a good (old, used) PC with e.g. i5, 4th gen, 8-16 GB RAM is available for around 50 Euro in Germany (chessica is from Germany!). Can handle avx2 and bmi2 compiles flawlessly. I know because I still have such a machine working here (i5 4440) as "everyday PC" including chess...
So no one must " keep relatively up to date with modern computers" nowadays but these AMD X4 machines were and still are a complete disaster concerning speed, power consumption and compatibility
For me "EoD" here, off topic, has nothing to do with New Rebels...
