Somewhat off topic, but sadly, the download links at Ron Murawski's Chess Engines Wiki (http://computer-chess.org/doku.php?id=c ... nload_list) are broken, but I think most of them should be archived at archive.org

For example, the link for Adam is

Code: Select all

http://computer-chess.org/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=computer_chess:wiki:download:adam-3.3uci.zip
but can be prefixed with https://web.archive.org/web/

Code: Select all

https://web.archive.org/web/http://computer-chess.org/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=computer_chess:wiki:download:adam-3.3uci.zip
and now it should be downloadable. (not clickable, but I used the code feature so that the full link would be shown)
I had since long (a few years?) changed the link in my XB/UCI chronology to this:
http://web.archive.org/web/202011062328 ... nload_list

From here they are all found and downloaded automatically, if I am not mistaken. Tested it at that time of change.

Edit:
Ofc you can also use this (an asterisk will show the whole really available content to some wayback root/folder)
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://com ... g/lib/exe/* (and sort by MIME type)

I hadn't visited that page in a long time until yesterday, and didn't realize the links were dead. Of course, archiving the download page works better than prefixing individual links, but I just wanted to demonstrate how to apply the prefix, in case someone runs across a dead link.

Hi everyone, sorry for the broken link. I had to change the domain, so please update the engine archive links to these ones:
https://calc.biokirr.com/chess/engines/Jim-Ablett
https://calc.biokirr.com/chess/engines/ ... nd-Leisner

Personally I believe that the coolest urls are those that don't change. But this time I had no choice. My DNS provider stopped propagating the DNS updates a few months back. Repeated attempts to contact their support failed, so unfortunately I had to retire that domain and set up another one. (A corporation with market cap in hundreds of billions can't be bothered to have any humans in support of their paid and very expensive DNS service, but why I am not surprised).

(I still need to fix a few sites to use the new domain).

Sorry for the interruption, also please look for the current links on my homepage in case of any issues.

I just checked this thread and saw several people helping.

About moderation, I have better focus on the subject of this thread that was the engine request. Again, thanks all of you.

Regards.

For those with limited bandwidth, here is a 9MB 7zip file containing the book:
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.
