Hi Dann,
I did something like this about a year ago. I determined that lichess puzzles were mostly trivial -- just keep checking the king and you win.
I did save the checkmates for mate in 3 through mate in 8. You might already have them. But here is a link.

I hope it helps.

Thanks Norm.
I am surprised that the set is not more interesting. They mention 50 CPU years of compute time.

Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Yes. They're all fairly simple puzzles, and if any of that is malformed, I wouldn't be surprised. They're very difficult to put together from that CSV. The really good stuff is in the Encyclopaedia of Chess Combinations (from Chess Informant). I have a PGN for both the 5th and 6th editions, which I own as a downloadable CBH. But obviously I can't share those. There's the books to look at, if you're curious, or you can go and purchase it from them for forty bucks.Dann Corbit wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 10:09 pm Thanks Halifax.
That saved me some toil.
I will run your script against the new file if it looks like the contents are valuable.
I am guessing that almost all of them will be too easy.

I have pretty much every chess combination/chess tactics book (clear back to really old books). If I have that one, I bought it a long time ago, however, so it probably would be good to update it.
