The main event starts today:
World Computer Chess Championship. In this event, there are no hardware limitations on participants. Some might use just a laptop; others might run on a 1,000 nodes and hundreds of GPUs. (October 21-24)
The format of the tournament follows from rule 2 of the Event Rules (WCCC) above.
The rate of play will generally be determined by the Tournament Director according to
the number of programs entered and any other relevant factors. The 26th World
Computer-Chess Championship (WCCC) is assumed to be an all-play-all tournament in
which the rate of play will be all moves in 1 hour 45 minutes plus an increment of 15
seconds per move. The increment starts at move 1, i.e., the clock should be used during
opening-book play.

On my Alder Lake at home they're slightly faster than a Skylake, or about equal to a Zen 1 core.I expected the efficiency cores to be pretty slow, but fast enough to handle the GUI and OS background tasks.

That is a clear demonstration that it is different from Stockfish 17, since amchess purpose is to apply Alexander Shashin theory exposed on his book. It's built for human players, not to win the WCCC

CPU noise?
Among all things that are unpredictable, there is one thing we can know for certain.
It becomes quite clear what your sole target is, isn't it?

What a discovery, I didn't even know the likes of amchess, Albert Silver, HGM and his fake Daniels can be classified into a 'sole target'.
I'm sure the list can go on, what do they have in common anyways? Stood on the shoulder of giants and tripped?

When you play chess and not TCEC conditions the gap between stockfish and Rofchade is not 200 elo but clearly smaller(maybe only 20 elo).Nay Lin Tun wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 7:54 am 8 games samples is too small if you have too close engines like SF vs Leela, ( within 20 elo in TCEC conditions). In this tournment when there is around 200 elo gap, 8 games is more than enough for SF to be a winner.
CCRL 40/15 has the following rating but engines do not use their book and when engines use their book the advantage of stockfish is clearly smaller.
1 Stockfish 17 64-bit 4CPU 3642
20‑22 rofChade 3.1 64-bit 4CPU 3571

In these events, the best setup will be the winner, not the strongest engine. Engine opening book, hardware. Operator

It's a pity that, after the first day, it has been impossible to watch the WCCC24 LIVE. Next events must be mainly based on an ONLINE site, like TCEC, and opened to all challengers.
