Would it be an idea to instate 'partial bans' as a new disciplinary method, so that the members in question would be limited to posting in the Kindergarten section? That way members with persistent malicious intent to attack others, e.g. through sneaky use of signatures or avatars, could be prevented from polluting the serious forums with their subversive activities until the start to exhibit socially acceptable behavior again.
It's a good idea, but to implement such a method, you need to continue working as a moderator with strength. So far, several people have used my avatar for their own profile, and this is not acceptable at all. I'll be changing my avatar soon.

What I meant was that as a moderator, all that happens is you cop shit from somebody for almost every action that you take.
If you are a moderator, then you can see the deleted posts in my topic. If I quoted someone, it was to prove what I meant. I don't think quoting others is a bad thing. All this happened because you didn't test my engine. After Covid-19, no elections have been held until now. HGM was the moderator from 2016 to 2024. Therefore, he can remain as moderator forever.

Dear Dr. Pierce,
I wanted to sincerely apologize for using your avatar as my own profile picture. I now understand how important it is to respect personal identity and intellectual property, and I regret any discomfort or frustration this may have caused you.
Please know that this was never my intention, and I truly respect your request to maintain your individuality and ownership of your online presence. I will make sure to update my avatar immediately, and I appreciate your patience and understanding as I rectify this mistake.
Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience I’ve caused and will be more mindful of such matters moving forward.

We've had smaller numbers vote in the past, so I don't see that as an issue.
You were the moderator of TalkChess from 2006 to 2008. Did you become a moderator by holding the election?
I was voted in. Pretty sure I served three terms from memory.
It's a thankless task in which you make enemies without even trying to do so.
You are, of course, correct. You would certainly get my vote if you were on a ballot. Cool heads are hard to come by.
One thing I'd certainly be wanting to do is to disable the accounts of clearly fictitious members, as they have not joined the forum in accordance with the stated rules.

I doubt that people with zero social intelligence will ever exhibit any acceptable behavior
I'd suggest to ban repeated offenders for twice the previous amount

Often, not always of course, there are more creative methods of dealing with, for example, avatar copying. The OP just neutered the “offenders” by changing his avatar at what appears to be zero cost to the OP. I call that a clever solution. OP 1 Offenders 0.

Which is worse. Registering with a fictitious name, or registering with no name at all, or registering with some kind of joke name or username? All are nominally against the recommended procedure. 100% blanket enforcement would lose you getting on for half the forum. Partial small scale enforcement, in this particular case, would be to cave in to a witch hunt, where the guy gets banned for the real name transgression , but the actual reason is way more complex. As in weighing witches. Does that float?
Personally speaking, I would not try to pander to the audience (or part of) to try to get moderation votes by sacrificing one unpopular(?) guy to that audience.
