Actually, you ruled yourself out by not completing the real name field within the two weeks period allowed. You knew this perfectly well (you've been in this thread enough times) and that electoral rules are there to be fair on all and not treated subjectively or special cased. Plenty of people updated their data. You didn't. Your choice. Stop whining.
I am not whining - I have accepted your ruling graciously - link. I assumed (obviously wrongly) that I am well known, and that my name was already in my profile (over an 18 year period, I have been addressed by my name many, many times by other members).

Yes, Paul Gift is it?
You are whining because you keep repeating the same whinge. Use of passive tense; as in 'it happened to you' is deceptive because you were the agent of whether it happened or not. You had the choice, enter real name within the time allowed to pass for the voting register, or decline to. You chose to decline. Your choice.

That was decades ago: I'd clean forgotten that assumed name. An impressive feat of memory from someone who has no idea who I am (link)!

No "whining" and no "whinging": I have accepted the decision to not allow me to vote with nothing but good grace.

Then I don't understand your point at all. This should be a "case closed", shouldn't it?
As far as I can tell, the list of potential voters has been created in a transparent way. There may have been some minor hickups on the way, but obvious problems have been resolved by now as far as I can see.
There has been an announcement, that there will be some document posted by Ed on how the FG is planning to proceed. Why not wait for it for some time? Are we in a hurry?

Absolutely - couldn't agree more! That was just a "right to reply" response to a post that mischaracterised me.

Not at all. Of course, the election could just have been held in the same way as all the other elections were - but no reason for anyone to fret or to lose their cool: I'm completely confident that by the time this election is held, at least one or two of us will still be alive!

The election so far is being held in the same way as all other elections. First task is to laboriously prepare the voting list. In the past, prior to loss of some user data, voters needed a real name. The difference then was the somewhat incoherent real name policy where some people (initially shop customers to be kept happy presumably) were allowed to breach this rule in a very random way. We’re just being more thorough and consistent on real names. Most people would consider that a good thing, while others just like to whinge I suppose.
There has been a suggestion that the Kindergarten forum is like CTF (link): it has no merit, of course, but now, while we all wait patiently for the election that will enable us to get rid of the moderator (or moderators) we don't like, the founders have found themselves another handbag to dance around.

I see. The forum is a shoot em up games (hat tip, Hgm) where you fight, crash in flames, spawn and continue in cycle until the guy(s) you don’t like are got rid of. Exact cycle which the moderation team has resolved to put a stop to. It’s immature, its wholly negative, it’s narcissistic and it’s not on computer chess topic. WGAF who you do and don’t like?
Affirmed the viewpoint that stopping the election cycle (continuation of narcissistic rage by other means) as a means to stopping the whole elimination cycle of others is correct.

Seems pretty clear that our glorious leaders have no intent on running any fair elections. First they hold out and delay the process as long as possible; Then they start throwing around false bans against those who they disagree with; And now we have some disgusting attempt at credentialism. Next we'll just get to select between Kang and Kodos.

Yes, Andrew, I understand you ascribe terrible bad motives to those you don't like
chrisw wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 5:06 pm
It’s likely we won’t be using the nomination popularity parade process.
Looks like I might have done a proper ascribing.
You keep assuming and you are wrong.

I believe an apology may be in order, Mr. Rebel and Mr. Chris?
When you can't win an argument, you censor it.
When you can't win an election, you remove your opponents.
Just because you've been doing something for a long time, does not mean you are any good at it.
