I would never question the intentions of our leaders, so I may only assume that the ban was an accident, and not a highly targeted act with the foreknowledge of the blocking of rights to run for moderators for those banned. Such a thing would of course be against your own rules, as targeting the "Discord Invaders" ( A xenophobic turn of phrase I am afraid, but one popularized by our leaders ) is an act treated on par with nasty references to the relative age of users.
Please provide a reason for my ban here, as well as the text of the original post that was banned. I would love to reshare it here, to showcase the clear accidental ban to others, but since it was deleted, I cannot say for sure what it said verbatim.
Thanks.
"I would recommend creating a new account, with a clearly fake name and avatar, and then just saying stupid stuff in 50% of your posts.
That way you will be on HGMs good side."
[Moderation responded] "1 week ban for inciting forbidden behavior."

Guess all you want. And I don't really see how your current signature can be taken as anything but an attempt to discredit moderation...AndrewGrant wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:17 pmI guess you really did ban me accidentally, as you seem to have missed the joke here.

Revealing again that you see it that way. My signature is not intended to be weaponized.hgm wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:24 pmGuess all you want. Experience has shown that in your case we should always assume the worst. One must be very naive to expect constructivve behavior from you.

IMO chris and hgm only want to protect talkchess.Graham Banks wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:15 pm The forum has become a bit like Communist China.

It needs a name. Verified. With a good standing.
In older times we all met in real life and were friends so we had no problems in elections.
Today it is not that easy because digitalisation also hunted computerchess.
What seems like a fairy tale today may be reality tomorrow.
Here we have a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow....

Just as reality check - in New Zealand, already the active voting right for convicted people has been a debate, let alone the passive one:

The forum analogy here would have been that people who did receive a ban would not only be inable to run as moderattor candidates, but also to vote - so that would go even further.

Irrelevant to the point I was making, which was that the only ones seemingly able to stand for moderators must be approved of by the FG. That is not true democracy.Ras wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:54 pmJust as reality check - in New Zealand, already the active voting right for convicted people has been a debate, let alone the passive one:

Being convicted for an actual crime is different to receiving a short term ban on a computer forum.

It is not. More to the point, how would posters who cannot even abide to the charter themselves be able to enforce the charter?Graham Banks wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:59 pmBeing convicted for an actual crime is different to receiving a short term ban on a computer forum.
Correct, so you should probably stop doing it.
