Fastchess question

Post by MartinBryant »

I was running a lengthy test run using Fastchess when my PC died.
Is there any way to get Fastchess to resume the same test run from when the crash happened by reading the PGN file it had written?

Hi Martin — take a look at the "-config" option on this page:

If there is a config file in the folder you may be able to resume

Thanks for the reply Steve... that worked a treat! :D

Just to clarify, for anyone else having the same issue. After a crash, just run the command...
fastchess-windows-latest.exe -config file=config.json
...and it should resume from where it was up to.

The only slight discrepency that I noticed was that when it resumes it numbers the rounds starting from '1' again rather than the round number it was about to use just before the crash.

I still have an arena tournament running. Takes a while until 900 games are played.
