Difficulty Levels
Choose from 5 difficulty levels:
- **Beginner**: 100ms thinking time - plays quickly, makes some mistakes
- **Amateur**: 500ms thinking time - decent play with occasional errors
- **Master**: 1 second thinking time - strong, well-rounded play (Default)
- **Expert**: 3 seconds thinking time - very strong tactical play
- **Grandmaster**: 10 seconds thinking time - maximum strength

Aggressiveness Setting (0-100%)
- **0%**: Conservative, positional play
- **50%**: Balanced approach (Default)
- **100%**: Maximum aggression - Tal-style sacrificial play
- Affects piece values and king safety calculations

When you first start the chess application, you may see a security dialog that says:

> "We blocked this application from accessing untrusted external resources. Allowing all access for this application could share some of your information with third parties, like messages in this conversation and your IP address."

Why This Appears

The chess application uses **Cloud AI services** to provide you with:
- **Premium move analysis** from powerful cloud-based chess engines
- **Real-time position evaluation** with professional-strength calculations
- **Opening book moves** from extensive databases
- **Advanced game analysis** features

To access these cloud services, the application needs permission to contact external chess APIs.

What to Do

**Recommended: Click "Allow all"**
- **Enables all premium features** including cloud AI analysis
- **Completely safe** - only contacts legitimate chess analysis services
- **No personal data at risk** - only sends chess positions for analysis
- **Best experience** - full functionality with strongest AI

Here’s what a game analysis looks like:

Each move is given a score, and mistakes, blunders, and missed winning opportunities are detected.

The analysis is clicked twice:

the first time shows mistakes during the opening and endgame
the second time shows the fully analyzed game.

This name, Chess Tal, is already taken (1997-2015), and at least had the decency to call itself Chess SYSTEM Tal rather than try to take over the entire nature of the player. Probably there’s a legal issue of passing off, first as the player Tal, which is certainly false and secondly as the already named engine.

Well, it's called "Play_chess_vs_GM_Tal" and not "Chess Tal", so at least there is no confusion with Chess System Tal.

As for the name of Tal himself... the description makes it clear that it's a bot, not the (obviously late) Tal himself, so it's not impersonation.

I'm more hung up about Poe being a freemium service, in which case this might count as commercial advertisement. It also asks for a phone number during registration, so the claim that no personal data are collected is outright false.

Well if it's called "Play_chess_vs_GM_Tal" then it's maybe not direct impersonation but it is "passing off", that's a legal offence, therefore a Charter offense. It's also a form of impersonation since it implies the bot is equivalent to Tal which is obviously nonsense.

Dear Ras, you can say this:
"Oh, he uploaded a picture through (a photo-uploading service) and I tried to sign up for Premium and it's asking for a phone number". You don't have to sign up to see the uploaded picture above and you don't have to sign up to use the program I made + chatbots.
I used 30 email addresses in poe because you get 3000 points per address per day, it never asked for a phone number. There are some paid parts for those who want to use more points per month, but I've never paid a penny.

I could not use your bot without registration, and it did ask me for a phone number when trying to register - a step that I could not skip.
