Re: New J.A Compiles
Hi, Jim! Looking at tcec and corresponding github code updates, and lots of top engines were updated and hopefully could gain some ELO. The list is pretty long. Starting, of course, from Reckless (2025-12-11), PlentyChess (7.0.31), and Integral, and finishing with the following:
1. Viridithas
https://github.com/cosmobobak/viridithas
2. Stormphrax
https://github.com/Ciekce/Stormphrax/tree/main
3. Rubichess
https://github.com/Matthies/RubiChess
4. Renegade
https://github.com/pkrisz99/Renegade
5. Heimdall
https://github.com/aronpetko/integral
6. Winter
https://github.com/rosenthj/Winter
7. Sirius
https://github.com/mcthouacbb/Sirius
8. Tarnished
https://github.com/Bobingstern/Tarnishe ... 07-266bbf2
9. Halogen
https://github.com/KierenP/Halogen/releases (15.26 plays in TCEC)
I know it's a lot of engines , but if any of them could be compiled, we would really appreciate!
Thank you so much for your work!
Ben

I'm only going to compile Official releases from now on, not development versions. They update too frequently and I can't
keep up. Too much work for me.
regards,
Jim.

Re: New J.A Compiles
Hi Jim,
most important in my opinion is to have from "older available" engine versions, modern compiles.
And for this selection you realized every wish in the last year. That was of course a lot of work.
Computer-Chess today is more "up-to-date", just because of your job.
For each new dev changes it make for sure in ~ 90% of cases no sense.
For some weeks you wrote, that you like it to compare original compiles with your owns.
Yes, if your compiles are faster, it make sense to use your compiles.
Everytime nice to see that in many cases your compiles are clearly faster.
Thinking on Schoenemann (youngest example, different from orginal version 0.5.0 to your version 0.5.0) ... FANTASTIC!!
I think, many people like your compiles for the reason that an Android version is included.
Or AVX2-ZEN2, or AVX-512 versions.
But here the programmers should offer itself such compiles.
If such compiles not available by the programmers, it won't be the end of the World.
5% - 10% slower or faster will make for the most of NN engines not more as 1-2 Elo.
To follow all the work you do for us ...
For me, it was really an event.
So many modern compiles from older engines are now available.
Time to start the older engines ... I do this since a while and have a lot of fun.
I've regained my enthusiasm for computer chess, partly thanks to your work.
Release versions:
It make sense to offer faster compiles only.
Same for release version, not for each release version an JA compile is necessary!
Best
Frank

It's also one of the reasons why I appreciate CCRL. They only test official releases. If we tracked all the development versions, there would be thousands. It's already bordering on absurd....

I used to be a big fan of SPCC, but now that his Top15 has a multitude of development versions I pretty much ignore it now.
