Weak Engines for Android and DGT

Post by Carbec »

Hi,
I am looking for a way to play with an DGT board (usb), and my smartphone under Android. I have already "Chess for Android" which is great. I would now add some engines to it, preferably weak ones. Do you know of some ones ?
Thanks for tips

Philippe,
How would you define weak? Also, some of the stronger ones have ELO settings that you can play with.

Hi,

Something I can beat ! somewhere between 1200 and 1500 elo. I was stronger in the past, but that was in the past !
I know that some engines have an elo setting, but in general it don't work well. Also, they have an opening book which an chess amateur don't have. Another problem is that they play super strong , and suddenly give a piece. Im looking for something more natural, if such thing exist.

Back in the good old times when I was running Android tournaments myself, I made this estimated ELO list. Note, this is a very old list (2013 !) so a lot has changed since then. But it may give you some idea for the lower rated engines. For example, this puts the built-in engine of Chess for Android (really a stripped down Java version of BikJump) at 1900 and the older version of BikJump 2.1 (the C++ version compiled for Android) around 2200. The weakest engine, at that time, was olithink-531-ja at around 1700.

You can find all the results (and download the games) from the Android Chess Engine Tournaments page. As you may have noticed, I am becoming more active with computer chess again, so perhaps I revive this tradition and start a tournament again with more recent engines (including BikJump 3.1  ).
