We don’t know why he took both drugs altogether.
Next day he should have played to german GM blübaum. But he played blitz online until he slept in (cocktail).
Obviously he took both amphetamine and sleeping pills together . We don’t know if it was by intention or by chance.
From watching his last online video i feel that he did it because he could not stand any longer the pressure that ex world chess champion Vladimir Kramnik put upon him calling Danya a cheater for at least 1 year.

Re: GM Naroditsky is dead
From the official report: he died from some heart problems, there is no indication at all that this was some kind of suicide attempt.
He also took some drugs, that are not unusual to be taken by people who take them, they were not heavily overdosed.

This was an unlucky term used by the media, I think by DER SPIEGEL. Just because something has been found in one container, doesn't mean that they've been put there at the same time together.
Fliegerschokolade to stay awake, some downer later. Or so.
Doesn't matter.

Update:
To the players we finally lost…. In memory of Daniel Naroditsky:The FIDE Ethics and Disciplinary Commission has reached a decision regarding the case of Grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik.
The Commission found Kramnik guilty of numerous violations of the Code of Ethics and the FIDE Disciplinary Code. The Commission determined that his conduct violated provisions concerning dignity and respectful treatment, the protection of personal dignity, harassment and cyberbullying, psychological abuse, the duty to set a good example, and the refusal to cooperate with the Commission's fair-play investigations.
The European Chess Union imposed a two-year ban on Kramnik, prohibiting him from participating in FIDE chess competitions and holding official chess positions worldwide. The final 12 months of the ban were suspended subject to a three-year probationary period; this means the ban applies for one year, provided no further violations occur during the probation. Additionally, the panel imposed a sanction requiring Kramnik to perform 12 months of unpaid service for the benefit of the chess community.
