Claude claims to have fixed the issues... Can you try the binary again?

Thanks!
Hi Michel,

Castling bug fixed now. Many thanks for doing this. Psion Chess was the very first computer chess program I ever played
and was always a favourite of mine. Very strong for the time.

Hi Michel and Jim,

I have desktop version of Chess Genius 7.2 GUI, but it does not work on Windows 11. Author of the engine is the same one as of Psion Chess (

Richard Lang)

Richard Lang wrote back than that it only works on older versions of Windows 7 as 32 bits. If I send Chess Genius 7.2 engine to you, alongside with its GUI, would you be able to convert it to 64 bit Windows 11, so I am able to use it.

If I try and load it now, I get an error message that the Chess Genius 7.2 is not compatible with my version of Windows.

I have tried and write a message to Richard Lang himself, but he has never responded to any of my messages.

It will only work with Windows 7 32 bits version. Newer version of Windows who are supporting 64 bits, it will not work on, even if they are 32 bits. Chess Genius 7.2 is only for Windows 7 32 bits or even Vista 32 bits, everything above that, and the engine along with the GUI would not work. We need 64 bits compatible GUI and engine to work on Windows 11. :( :(

Hi! Thanks for Psion UCI!
Did let a little match run between it and Franz Huber's emulation of Mephisto TM London 68040 at TC 5"/move in Shredder- GUI, too strong an opponent obviously, broke off after 27 games with 25 wins for Mephisto and 2 draws, yet Psion 1.1 won 2 times too, here's one of these 2 games:

Pity this one version without output- lines always get comment "book" with each move by GUI, same as with Mephisto- emu, so it can't be said, how many moves came really out of book, but in meantime I updated to 1.2 and having only short trial so far, now output seems to work in Shredder- GUI well too

Chess Genius 7.2 doesn't work in 64 bit Windows because the engine is still 16 bits, Richard never updated it to 32 bits.

v1.4 The engine is now stopped when not thinking (before it still consumed 90% CPU time when idle)
