Graham,
more important as support the authors of TOP-40 engines, same opinion!
Many authors are lost for that reason that we give best engines to many attention.
But where I should start if 1.000 engines are available?
Perhaps we should build more groups here ...
Active engines, full under development with a hint of programmers ... need help for testing!
Note:
Many programmers search the way to chess server or hold his programs private.
To fight vs. chess server produced the result: 0:1
Engines lovers like you or like me have 0 chance.
Found perhaps 10 or 20 of 1.000 programmers give comments to the work we do.
Unfortunately, Winboard times are a long time over!
The programmers are more in the middle of users in winboard times!

Re: 94th Amateur Series Division 3
Hi, Frank!
Taking into account that Roc is a derivative from Gull by Vadim Demichev, here we have the fight between two top Russian engines. The other two are Counter by Vadinm Chizhov and SmarThink by Sergey Markov. By the way, it's a shame for me that Sergey stopped developping his engine as SmarThink is a unique and very interesting project!
Incredibly fast systems miscount incredibly fast.

Re: 94th Amateur Series Division 3
Hi Aleksey,
you are welcome!
In the beginning of the development from SmarThink I had a lot of contacts to Sergey.
A very nice guy full of ideas in combination with fantasy ... for try out complicated things.
Smathink is max. interesting. Positional chess is just great, many own ideas.
The problem is the king safety and tactics, not the strategy.
After all the contacts with him in the past I am very sure that Sergey will never give up his baby.
Time will come and a newer version is available for us. He is too much in love with chess programmings and Sergey know that his own work is strong.
Counter is also very interesting ... very balanced chess engine. Need a speedup and the strength will explode.
I am using GullChes Sy ... a very fast compile I found in a message in Chess2u forum.
After I remember I try out Roc for FCP Tourney-2020 but after a technical problem I stopped without to looking more in detail. Gull is the strongest IPP in my opinion!

I watched quite a lot of games by Counter. Its problem is that it often gets into cramped positions, underestimating this factor.Frank Quisinsky wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 8:29 pm Counter is also very interesting ... very balanced chess engine. Need a speedup and the strength will explode.
This version (popcnt) along with the standard Gull 3 is now playing in my Tournament for 3100-3350 ELO engines. I'll post the first results in a couple of days.Frank Quisinsky wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 8:29 pm I am using GullChes Sy ... a very fast compile I found in a message in Chess2u forum.

Re: 94th Amateur Series Division 3
Congratulations to Ivan (Uralochka author) for a convincing tournament victory, and for gaining promtion into Division 2 of the next series.
If the new Expositor proves to be of Division 2 standard, it could well be promoted as well.
Thanks to everybody who took an interest.

Thanks for this tournament! It was interesting to watch the games of these engines. I hope Uralochka will play well in the next division.
