And now, if in the last game, Critter loses, Rybka draws, Houdini wins, who will be considered the winner?

Thanks a lot for this awesome tournament Graham.
The used book gave a nice spread all over the ECO codes.

White Perf. : 56.5 %
Black Perf. : 43.5 %

ECO A = 89 Games (37.1 %)
ECO B = 50 Games (20.8 %)
ECO C = 42 Games (17.5 %)
ECO D = 26 Games (10.8 %)
ECO E = 33 Games (13.8 %)

If you count only the last 21 games, Houdini would have had a resounding victory.
Therefore if all the difficult 9 first games can be well explaned why it lost a few times,

If you count only the last 21 games, Houdini would have had a resounding victory.
Therefore if all the difficult 9 first games can be well explaned why it lost a few times (besides mere statistics), then that may yet redeem the impression of the quality of play that Houdini 3 has.

You seem a bit obsessed. 70 Elo points difference is a lot? That's the difference of Houdini 3 from the field. Well, these 70 Elo points mean 6.0:4.0 _average_ score of Houdini 3 versus X in 10 games, with good probabilities to get some say 4.0:6.0. If you admit that, and admit that Houdini 3 is not bound to win every game, nor every tourney, then you will wonder less when Houdini is not on top.
