Indeed.

SF has now clinched the match, but the two engines seem equally strong, all in all:

SF 17-67-14 after 98 games.

There is still time to go 5 up. :D

I hope Clemens is already preparing a rematch.

Well even if SF does win the last few games the result is quite obvious that with so few games this can be considered statistically equal. What is really impressive is the number of games that Komodo can win with black! Not sure how it compares to SF statistics with black but Komodo must be ahead in that department!

Why is black more important than white?

Nothing to do with importance but generally speaking white gets more wins than black. Hell some people even think that chess is won by force from the white side (although I totally disagree and feel that chess is easily a draw from the start position). Generally speaking white starts with the initiative and black tries to neutralize that and only when he manages to equalize will he think of trying to win. This is true in human chess as well as engine chess.

Hugo wrote:Hi ALL

I am running a match between Stockfish 170315 and Komodo 1400.
I decided to use a high number of CPUs for this match. Lot of MP improvements by Stockfish makes this match hopefully intresting.

CONDITIONS:
Fritz GUI in engine match mode (openings will be repeated with alternate colors)
Harry Schnapp 7moves book , book option set to normal ( I hope for unbalanced outcome of book in a few games)
Timer 30 +15, ponder OFF, 100 games to play!
both engines 24 cpu (Intel E5-2697 v2 @ 3.0GHz), no HT
8192MB hashtables
full 3-4-5-6 Tablebase set for engines and gui

I will setup a ReplayZone soon and try to keep it updated often.
intresting 1-0 and 0-1 games I will post here.

Special thx to Larry Kaufmann and Mark Leffler for let me do this match in public!

kind regards, Clemens Keck

Thank you, Clemens!

Very much appreciated.

A real thriller.

Will you post the winning games from the last portion of the match, or update the replay zone?

Also, where is the replay zone for the second match? :D
