Democracy, as I understand it, respect minorities. A majority that uses it to crush minority destroy democracy.

"To crush" is an extremist term.You must use & understand " to modify".
And............sometimes is healthy "to modify" some minorities. Smoking &
drinking( ) -for example-kill equally the human beings & the democracy ! To restrict continually the number & the sizes of these "rooms" are always long-expected !

You can change the words and replace crushing with "reforming", but the goal is the same. Democracy, I insist, is not about giving way to majorities, but to respect and preserve the room of minorities.
If you destroy those rooms, it does not matter if you did it with force of arms, a plebiscite or trough a momentous approval.

Anyway, this is a moot. Those rooms will exist no matter what because its existence dos not put on danger your preferred rooms. And vice-versa.
