I've never had any problem downloading .rar files with gmai. Downloading my Naum 4.2 file went without any trouble. Don't know what might be wrong for you.Uri Blass wrote:I bought Naum and tried to download the rar file and had problems.
If I click download I only get back to the same email with no download and
If I try to do save target as then it save it as a mail with smaller size and does not save the right file(it seems to save the mail that I get and not the file)
It seems that the problem is not with the programmer because even if I send to my self .rar file I cannot download it.
I did not download .rar file that I got by email in the last months but in the past I had no problem to do it.
I thought that the problem may be with my computer but I tried to download it from a different computer with no success.
I wonder if the problem is with gmail and if people can download .rar file today with gmail.
I found that
I can download .txt file with no problem with gmail so downloading naum as .txt file and renaming it can solve the problem(in case that Alex Naumov send me a renamed naum to .txt that I need to change to .rar) but I wonder if it is possible to change my setting to allow downloading .rar file directly.

Great work on Naum, and good luck implementing those Ippo ideas....

It's odd, gmail will not allow you to send a zipped .exe file, but you can send a .rar file with a .exe included. I had no problem download Naum in a .rar file, so Uri must have some other problem.alpha123 wrote:As I recall, I was emailing a .exe installer (actually, it was a .jar installer except Windows doesn't let .jar files have administrator privileges, so I used a program that let me make it .exeDavid Dahlem wrote:I've never had any problem downloading .rar files with gmai. It even found the .exe in a .zip file, so my guess is it won't let you download the .rar file because Naum is an executable file. I think you can probably change some setting to let you download it, but I don't think you can email any exe or compressed exe. (I ended up renaming the installer to installername.installer and included instructions in the email to rename the extension to .exe).

If I send myself .rar file I cannot download it but if I change the name to .txt and send the same file I have no problem.
For some reason when I click on download file the computer shows me loading uriblass@gmail.com and I get to the same email with no download.
When I send myself .txt file I have the options view download and open as a google document and all work
When I send myself .rar file I have only the option download that does not work.

In the past there was problem only with zip file but for some reason today there is also a problem with rar file(not that it does not allow me to send but that I simply cannot download it).David Dahlem wrote:It's odd, gmail will not allow you to send a zipped .exe file, but you can send a .rar file with a .exe included. LOL. Frustrating isn't it. It would be so much easier if you could just copy the algorithm
For the last 2 weeks I am trying various combinations of the BSR pruning (reduce later moves more). Engine goes so much deeper, but it sucks in games

Mostly various pruning techniques, the way forced move extensions are done, using move positional eval score in pruning and q-search,...
I also find interesting futility pruning in Stockfish.

Alex Naumov sent me Naum as .txt file and I renamed to .rar and now there is no problem with it(I still do not understand why I have problems to download rar files that I get by email).

Re: NAUM 4.2
How about the null-move pruning Dann Corbit used in Stockfish 1.6s? You might want to check that out, some tests had it up to ~60 elo stronger than the standard version. My tests had them roughly equal, thoughnaum wrote:Mostly various pruning techniques, the way forced move extensions are done, using move positional eval score in pruning and q-search,...
