You have it set to 128 so that should be changed.
I'll do it now and restart the game.

I don't think it is using NNUE net.
The scores it displays seems to match the non-NNUE version than it does the NNUE.
It would be very helpful to have a debug file from the GUI since I want to see how Scorpio is started. Maybe the GUI is messing up something.

Are you installing scorpio.bat as the engine in the GUI instead of scorpio.exe ?
That could be the reason ...

Note that I didn't have to edit anything in scorpio.ini after installation using the previous two steps.
I wonder why you had to edit so many things manually in your case.

Thanks.
It looks like the GUI you are using fails to load egbbdll so it goes back to not using NNUE.

Code: Select all

Eng01 (Scorpio 3.0.12 64-bit) <- Number of cores 8 of 8
Eng01 (Scorpio 3.0.12 64-bit) <- treeht 0 X 328 = 0.0 MB
Eng01 (Scorpio 3.0.12 64-bit) <- processors [1]
Eng01 (Scorpio 3.0.12 64-bit) <- ht 16777216 X 16 = 256.0 MB
Eng01 (Scorpio 3.0.12 64-bit) <- eht 1048576 X 8 X 1 = 16.0 MB
Eng01 (Scorpio 3.0.12 64-bit) <- pht 131072 X 24 X 1 = 3.0 MB
Eng01 (Scorpio 3.0.12 64-bit) <- Error (unknown command): -xboard
Eng01 (Scorpio 3.0.12 64-bit) <- EgbbProbe not Loaded!
Eng01 (Scorpio 3.0.12 64-bit) <- loading_time = 0s
Eng01 (Scorpio 3.0.12 64-bit) <- feature name=1 myname="Scorpio 3.0.12.1"
Also seems to not understand xboard mode.
You can try using UCI mode instead since Scorpio now supports UCI too.

Daniel
I'll try removing the xboard command first.
What I've previously found with Scorpio using uci, is that it plays the first move out of book instantly.

I've tried everything I can think of now.

Daniel - if you have ChessGUI and Windows, can you please try?

I have had to take Scorpio 3.0.12 64-bit out of the tournament, and replace it with Berserk 4.2.0 64-bit.

I tried ChessGUI today and it seems it is one of those GUI's that only accepts exes and not bat files.
scorpio.bat is the engine that should be installed, not scorpio.exe, so it won't work unfortunately.
This is clearly mentioned in the INSTALL documentation, so if the GUI does not give you the option to pick scorpio.bat
we would have known it won't work right away.

Btw, I must mention how crappy ChessGUI is :D It has like a thousand tabs and I couldn't even get to run Stockfish with it ...

There is also a Livius windows version.

It's the GUI that I find most accommodating for engine v engine testing.

Sadly, Scorpio NNUE is the only engine I can't run.
If that changes, I'd be happy to run a gauntlet with it. :P
