Re: Gambit engines?
Way, way late, but I just looked as I was starting a tournament and Gandalf 6 has a gambit setting. It may have had a place in this tournament.

Re: Gambit engines?
Indeed, Gandalf 6 does have a gambit setting. I had forgotten about this engine. And it just so happens, i bought Gandalf 6, way back when.Dayffd wrote:Way, way late, but I just looked as I was starting a tournament and Gandalf 6 has a gambit setting. It may have had a place in this tournament.

I'm setting up a Junior 2010 Gauntlet tourney against the top finishers in this tournament, plus some new settings i've created. I'll add Gandalf 6 Gambit to this gauntlet.
Thanks for the tip.

Re: Gambit engines?
I guess Pablo could show you some games where he uses the strategy against other programs, and wins, sometimes, and uses it against Tiger antihuman, and fails, always.
Yes I was on the CB server and Pablo came into the engine room asking for a game. I accepted. Before he started he asked me to please not use Tiger Antihuman as he could not beat it on time by taking advantage of server lag.

Re: Gambit engines?
You are most welcome. Would it be possible for you to send me those gambit settings for the engines involved? Especially DeepSjeng Redshift and the Junior 2010 gambit settings, unless the Red Shift is already in Deep Sjeng. That one is due to be cranked up in the coming weeks. I think I have all of those engines, but not the settings. Someday (always someday!) I will find time to start fiddling with settings; for now there are still a number of engines that need ratings on my list, including the numerous Shredder settings.David Dahlem wrote:Indeed, Gandalf 6 does have a gambit setting. Re: Gambit engines?
Gandalf 6 only has two options, normal or gambit. Gandalf 6 update 1 is completely different, allowing the adjustment of various values -Dayffd wrote:Way, way late, but I just looked as I was starting a tournament and Gandalf 6 has a gambit setting. It may have had a place in this tournament.
http://www.lokasoft.nl/howto/0006.htm
I quickly came up with an "aggresive" personality -
PAWNSTR 100
PASSEDPAWN 110
PASSEDPAWNENDGAME 120
ATTACK 200
SAFETY 50
DEVELOP 100
BISHOPPAIR 100
KNIGHT 100
BISHOP 100
ROOK 100
QUEEN 100
I'll also test these settings in my Gambit Gauntlet tourney.
