For example, I had a Bogo-Indian position from a game loaded using the Classical menu, then I switched to the
Easy Game menu and picked up the (easy) game from Black's 5th move and continued playing from there.
The Bogo-Indian game was the last thing I had open under the Classical Menu and it kept it in the notation window
when I switched menus. You can do the same with any opening.

I have an old HP all in one PC
Would it be possible to use a cloud engine when playing an Easy Game?
Preferable a free cloud engine.

David Barnes from pgn-extract, was so kind to make a tool that works on a Windows 64 bit system.Jonathan003 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 7:41 pm In Fritz 17 you have to make a new ctg book, and ad priority analysis.
Then every move needs to have a ! in order to force the engine to play the lines.
I used to have a commend line tool called markup-pgn to mark every white or black move with an informant symbol like (!)
I still have a tool lgpgnmw to mark al the moves with a (!), but that tool only works with a 32 bit system.
I hope someone knows where I can download this markup-pgn tool.
Or maybe it can be done with some other tools like pgn-extract.

But...how to use it?
In the 'readme' file, I only see:
If you have the program "make" installed (under Windows, you can get
the same effect using the mingw32 package) then the Makefile will
build all three:
make
NB: The parser assumes that games to be parsed are valid.
Put them through pgn-extract beforehand if in doubt.
The program will add ! !! ? or ?? annotations to all white and/or
black moves depending on its arguments:
markmoves [-wg | -wgg | -wb | -wbb] [-bg | -bgg | -bb | -bbb] [file.pgn ...]
Annotate every white and/or black move with one of ! (g) !! (gg) ? (b) ?? (bb)
Note that no separating space is added between move and annotation.

Re: Fritz 18: Evolving Genius
Here is an example.
Say you have a pgn database and you want to annotate all the white and the black moves with a (!)
The pgn has to be clean, you can do this by opening it in SCID and exporting it.
Place the pgn database and the command line tool markmoves in the same folder. Then click in the adres bar in file explorer and type cmd and hit enter.
Then you write
And hit enter.
Just experiment a bit with it and you will soon see how it works.

Re: Fritz 18: Evolving Genius
I thought the same about the Benchmark icon on the ribbon. But I just checked again and it works in Fritz 18.Milton wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 4:46 amYes, "Fritz Chess Benchmark.exe" exists in both folders "Chessprogram17" and "Chessprogram18" on my computer. Directly clicking on either of those files causes the benchmark to run. But clicking on the "chess benchmark" icon in the main GUI only works for the Fat Fritz 2, but not for the Fritz 18 GUI. Thanks for your response. I have sent an email to Chessbase to let them know about this glitch.Odd Gunnar Malin wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:57 amThis feature doesn't work here either.Milton wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 7:52 pm I think I found one minor bug in the GUI. On my computer the "Chess Benchmark" feature does not work at all. By comparison, in the Fat Fritz 2 GUI, which I also have, the benchmarking feature does work. Can anyone else with Fritz 18 confirm whether the Chess Benchmark feature works for them? Thanks.
You have a program called 'Fritz Chess Benchmark.exe' in the program folder, was it just starting this tool. I uninstalled Fritz 17 before I installed Fritz 18 so I can't check. By the way, is it allowed to give away the old (downloaded) program, I didn't buy an upgrade.
I honestly do not know the answer to your questions about whether it is allowed to give away your old program.

What's the GUI min search time when analyzing a set of positions with an engine? Still 1 sec?

Well, if you are talking an engine vs engine game it is .1 sec.ThomasMiller wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 3:57 pm What's the GUI min search time when analyzing a set of positions with an engine? Still 1 sec?
But "Processing Test Set" a 'min' is not offered. Rather a 'Max' is and that seems to be 1 sec - for the maximum length of time the program should work on each position.
