Opening Book issue

Post by Purple Haze »

Hello,

I recently have encountered a problem with an opening book. In properties the book shows that it has games it in by having 500 mbs. But when I load into the GUI I get a blank screen in the opening tab. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

Your description is quite clear... In other words, you mean, the file size is 500 MBytes but the book window doesn't show any moves?

Did you copy or move the book from another location? Note that a Fritz book consists of three files, with CTG + CTB + CTO extensions (+ .ini). Maybe one of these is missing? The only other reason I can imagine is that it's simply broken... maybe the file is corrupted.

(I uses all my books write-protected and never had that problem, but of course they would need to be writeable if you want to use book learning.)

Philp,

I have experienced the same problem. When you first create the book you must immediately close the Fritz GUI and re-open, before doing anything else. If you do anything else in the GUI or even press any keys then I have found that the book file gets corrupted and appears blank with no moves.

I would recommend re-compiling the book from source and immediately closing Fritz and re-opening. See if that helps.

Hello,

I have fixed the problem. I was missing the right ctb & cto file which I've found now. Thanks guys for the support I appreciate it.
