Collector's Corner - Mephisto Mobil Memory?

Post by klute »

Hello All

I have a mint Mephisto Mobil unit, which works fine with my MM IV and MM V modules except that it doesn't seem to retain games in memory.

I'm sure the Mobil is meant to retain games in memory and suspect that the capacitator has died of old age over the years and should be replaceable if I can get inside the Mobil casing. However, the design of the unit would seem to make this difficult or even impossible to do without causing damage. Has anyone managed to open up a Mobil successfully and if so, how did you do it?

Thanks

Cameron

???

its the MODULE that saves the game, or not.

in this case, MM4 and MM5 cannot save games when you
switch them off.

maybe it works with mm1 (Mephisto III) if you put the 9V battery in. Maybe.
these modules worked in CMOS and do not require much energy.
6502 with 5 mhz in MM4/MM5 need much power.

Yes Thor
you are correct
it is the module which determines if there is memory to save games when switched off...not the Mobile housing

Hi Thorsten and Steve

Well it would appear that my Mobil is fine then and working as intended!
