Are dedicated prices trending upwards?

Post by Larry »

This is a rather good price for a Fidelity 9 level:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... &rd=1&rd=1

This is the one from the other day when I raised the issue over
whether or not it was a 'B'. Not sure, but the thread may have
contributed to it's good price. These things normally go for $40-70
complete and working.
The '9' is the ultimate user friendly dedicated, IMO. Provided you
are not too strong yourself, you'll have any amount of casual
enjoyment from one of them.

What so special about that item that normally sells for $40-70 going at such a high price? Was it used by Kasparov or Fischer? That seems a bit dear for me.

Note: If you put your url in tags it prevents the page stretching like that.

i just knew you are going to ask that

with Ebay its impossible to predict anything with any degree of certainty

previous to this sale the Excel Mach 3 had a range of $125-$350 and it just sold for $585

and if you take a look at the Ebay tracking site link i provided above
you will see a range of prices from $275-$400 for the Designer M3

seems to me the Designer took in more money then the Excel

so i leave you to do the math

Some guy in another forum was trying to sell his quad core processor via ebay at a high price and attracted 0 bidders (as the price of those things is being dropped). I wondered about the item above because of his comments that I've highlighted in red.

oh OK
my mistake

you are right for the SC9
the reason it sold for so high a price is because it is the SC9 B which supposedly is rarer then the normal SC9 and fixed certain bugs

however i think that mainly the SC9b was sold in the US and so not so rare here

i have an SC9B and i bought mine right off the shelves when first released

here is larrys original thread on the SC9B:

Yes, it appears it could rake in $600 maybe more at some point?

Maybe when it hits the ripe old age of 25 in 2014, it might sell for a lot more? Who knows?

If Only I Could Destroy All the Other Designer M3's Regards,
