Rybka vs Ehlvest II

Post by Vasik Rajlich »

Hi,

Rybka will be playing a 6-game match vs GM Jaan Ehlvest, starting tomorrow (Thursday July 5), 5:00 pm EST.

We'll keep the following URL up-to-date with various information about the match:

http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforu ... l?tid=1614

So far, you can find there the match conditions and various comments by Larry Kaufman and others.

Enjoy :)

Nice!

So:
-Rybka would be handicapped with much less time, 90+30 versus 45+15.
-Rybka would be handicapped with a 6 plies book only.
-Rybka would be handicapped with having black all the times.
-Rybka would be handicapped, even slightly, with no tablebases.

Do you like torturing your own creation? :D

Why not give Rybka its own good Jeroen-book and why not let it have half of the time the white pieces?
Why no tablebases and why such time disadvantage for Rybka?
Would it be too difficult for the human? So what?
It would be interesting anyway.

I have to admit that my interest in this match was not so big because of this stupid Pawn handicap rule you had the other time. But now that i've learned it would be a 32 pieces match, my interest became big again! :)

Yes, a Pawn is a Pawn, but only if you have an experience to play with a Pawn more. Ehlvest obviously didn't have this experience in the last time so he was alone in the deep sea, so your fish ate him easily.... :D

17:01 EST means 00:01 in Greece, so if Ehlvest plays slowly i predict a long night..... :?
After his son's birth they've asked him:
"Is it a boy or girl?"
YES! He replied.....

Best of luck Vas.
I think it should be a very close contest- my predictions, Ehlvest will win one game, lose two and rest drawn.
Verdict- 3.5 -2.5 to Rybka ver 2.3.2X ( X is whatever experimental improved private version that you now have ;-) )
Cheers!
Best Regards,

Varun

I see that the Games with be broadcasted over the ChessAssistant Club server. That interface I believe can work with Skype, however I have never used it. I would like to test out that feature if anyone here has used it, or is planning on watching the game tonight via ChessAssistant Club's GUI my Skype handle is tedsummers and my ChessAssistant handle is NYTed (Sounds like Knighted).

Thanks

I don't think so it will work with Skype.
I don't like the idea of an additional ICS again. ICC, ChessBase, FICS and many more free servers are enought anyway. I'm pretty sure the concept doesn't work.
Ok, i understand it from the buisness and marketing view, but personaly i will don't use it so long they dom't broadcast all other big events too. This will never happend of course.

Not sure I understood your 1st sentence. :?: Anyway, I agree that there are plenty of ICS clients out there and maybe not anymore are needed. However that is what I believe they call freedom of choice. That same freedom allows for the creation of new and ever better ideas, which I don't feel is a bad thing. Example: Thanks to Crafty, we had Fruit. From Fruit we got Toga, etc ...

What I am trying to say is most improvements are based on someone's previous work in that field. Funny thing is I like Chess Assistant Club for it's players and not for their ICS Interface.

Of course being freedom of choice fellow i agree. I don't think there
can be to many free or comm. chess servers. The more the better
for the game of computer chess.
Good luck to Vas in his games.

Gerold.

10 minute before Match time, and what happens? Guest who does not remember their password? Well it was not me, as I sit here waiting for the game to be broadcast.
