My goodness - it breathes (almost)

And the price is nothing like what I was expecting. This is actually going to be a robot that is arguably affordable to the mass market! I wonder at the playing strength though - reportedly mate-in-5. Is it mate-in-5 because realistically that is the practical limit for a modestly powered dedicated unit (unless you like waiting many hours or even days), or is it mate-in-5 because it is a modest program?

Perhaps I mistinterpreted the mate-in-5. It will announce mate-in-5. But it could still have solving levels up to 8 like the others.

In a decent world that unit should be `powered by at least the Par Excellence program by the Spracklen, the one used in the fist Phantom. Nevertheless, looking at the features of he Phantom II unit, I suspect we are going to get an Alexandra kind of program. The three voices, the number of levels, the mate in 5......mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hoping to be Mistaken regards

the program will be brand new ..never before seen in any other computer.. by the living god of dedicated chess computers...Mohammad Nelson
it will be stronger then the program in the Grand Master

If you REALLY know more, you should tell. The Elders are following very carefully your inclination to silence and hidden information. An expedient is already in preparation. Nasty punishment on the way if you persist.

Howdy!

Apparently you can set it up for specific problems. I was reading the details about this unit and under "Learning" it says, "Set Up Newspaper Problems." This leads me to believe it can do what your are refering to. At least I hope it can. I would rather have a chess computer that sets up problems to solve.
