Installing Strelka 1.8

Post by Kaj Soderberg »

I have stayed away from Strelka until now, but i could not resist downloading Strelka 1.8. I tried to install it in the Shredder (9) interface, and Shreddy initially accepted Strelka as a Winboard engine. But playing games or analyzing positions does not work. I probably overlook some procedure or installation trick. Can't read the Russian text on the website  Any ideas? Would love to get get this scandalous baby (sarcastic mode, copyright CT) moving her ass.

Thanks for practical advice in advance.

Best regards,

Kaj

What you probably overlook is that the new Strelka is a UCI-only engine. I had no problems with installing it as a UCI engine under the Shredder 9 GUI.[/quote]

Nope,

Shreddy only accepts it as a Winboard engine, and says that Strelka is not UCI when i try the UCI route. Could this .rar extension confuse things?

Yes, the .rar file is compressed. You first have to decompress it, and then you will have the .exe. There are several programs for decompressing .rar files.

Hi,

The rar extension denotes that the file is in a compressed form and needs to be unpcked before use. Once unpacked it will show itself as an exe file.

Aha, thanks. I did not bump into that extension before. OK, i will Google to the decompressing stuff and get that promiscuous creature running in the end.
