Based on the results I have seen posted, this new version looks extremely strong. It will be very exciting to see where it ends up on the rating lists.

Scandinavia is beginning to become a super power in computer chess. When the next versions of Frenzee and Gandalf appear, I am quite sure Ruffian will only be the fifth strongest Scandinavian chess program. :)

Hi Tord,
let's see about the strength. I am eagerly waiting for some objective results. My own are too biased...

Yes, times are changing fast. Ruffian was superstrong when it came and now it is history (even if it is still strong). I think we mainly have to thank programs like Crafty, Fruit and your own Glaurung for this. Another great source of knowledge are Ed's pages. I must say that after reading Ed's first lessons I finally left the bitboard thinking behind me. I never really mastered that anyway. Funny enough when I stopped bitboarding Rybka came!
