You are doing this on a Pentium 4, not?

Perhaps I should make a special compile of Joker optimized for P-4, as the normal one seems to lose unusally much strength compared to other machines. Although that might only be true at specific time controls. Anyway, it would be nice to have a Joker with a more balanced performance w.r.t. CPU and / or time control.

A second point:

Micro-Max has over 2000 Elo in the CCRL list. But the other engines in your division 8 seem too strong for it, so perhaps you are using another list that scores engines somewhat lower. It would be interesting for me to know how uMax is doing at blitz, but I can't imagine it scoring many points against the engines you have listed for division 8 now...

P4 2.6 GHZ and a laptop with 1.6 GHZ.

I recently downloaded a Joker 1108 or something which was available at your website, maybe if you got Joker for P4 special version then you can send it to me on nswami15 at yahoo.com,I will include it in the tournament and replace it with the old one.

by the way,Joker uses 130 mb or something for blitz 1+1,and there is no ini file to edit the hash size, is there any chance for joker with <100 mb hash?

I can include micromax but unfortunately only in next edition because every engine seem to be registered, I accept special author request even if the engine is rated below 2000 or plays weaker than any of division 8 engines.I guess the next edition begins after 2 weeks.

Good luck

By the way,There is a room for micro max, I guess I will remove the very older un updated engines to make way for newer engines irrespective of their ratings.

Micro Max in, Bestia out.

All the best.

Joker accepts a command-line argument to set the hash size. By calling it as

Joker1108w 20

you will get 64MB hash. With 21 you get 128MB (the default), with 19 32MB, etc.

Thanks,H.G. I got it working,I don't know how to reduce the hash size for engines like prophet that doesn't accept command line option, doesn't have ini settings.

Waiting List:

Engines in waiting list don't get demoted but instead would play in the same division from next edition.

Usually Engines that finish 13th ranking or the engines that finish around 10-13 th place and have more games on database would be added to the waiting list to make way for newer engines.

Code: Select all

Division 5 waitling list:
Gosu

New engines:
Der Bringer

Division 4 waiting List:
Gaia
Resp

New engines:
Post Modernist
Francesca

Division 3 Waiting List:
King of Kings

New engine:
Wb Nimzo

Division 2 Waiting List:
Yace
The Baron

New engines:
Ruffian

Hi Swami,
don't know how to reduce the hash size for engines like prophet that doesn't accept command line option, doesn't have ini settings.

To change Prophet hash:

Code: Select all

Default hash: 130mb

To change hash, add command line parameter:

hash=32 (for 32mb hash)
Regards,
Jim.

Hi Jim,

I got it working,Thanks for all the help,Very Much Appreciated!

PS:I suppose if that's the same configuration with other engines that use bigger hash for blitz games?Or is there some way to set Engine to function in given hash from Arena?

Regards.

No, All winboard engines use their own unique startup options
(there is no standard, you have to read the readme.txt with the engine).
Uci engines, should be able to have hash set from within Arena, depending
on whether configurable hash is implemented in the engine properly.

Jim.
