If so where can I download it . I really would like the UCI download. if its not avalible in (uci) how can I get it to work for chessbase. Any help would be great.

Hi Joseph!
On the Glaurung web page you will also find a development version of the coming Glaurung 2.0. This version is probably slightly stronger than 1.2.1, but has a dull style of play, and doesn't have a lot of features.

You can download it here. I haven't tried it myself, but the last time I heard, Glaurung 1.2.1 worked fine in the ChessBase GUIs as long as you just play games. Analysis mode does not work straight out of the box, however: You have to manually modify the engine parameters and make sure the parameters "Aggressiveness" and "Cowardice" have the same value.JAMerolle wrote:If so where can I download it . All of the Glaurung versions play games under the Chessbase GUIs without any problems.

Glaurung Lodz 2007 analyses fine in ChessBase. But to repeat something I've said in another thread...
I hope Tord Romstad takes note.
I'd like to appeal to all UCI authors to implement "Next Best" and "Analyze Threat," which I believe are part of the UCI protocol. In ChessBase during infinite analysis, pressing the y-key should cause the engine (if it supports it) to analyse the second-best move, and pressing the x-key should cause the engine to show what move is best if it was the other side to move. Not all engines support either or both functions, but e.g. the latest Rybka and Hiarcs do - that's because I pestered their authors about it!
I hope Tord Romstad takes note.

You're probably right, but Glaurung 1.2.1, which is the version Joseph asked about, does not work (unless you manually set the UCI parameters, as I explained in my previous post). The problem is a bug in the GUI: The ChessBase GUI doesn't tell the engine that it should run in analysis mode, therefore Glaurung doesn't know that it should disable its asymmetric evaluation. It's possible that this bug is fixed in later versions, though.Marek Soszynski wrote:Glaurung Lodz 2007 analyses fine in ChessBase.
There is nothing called "Next Best" or "Analyze Threat" in the UCI protocol. Perhaps you are thinking about the "searchmoves" parameter to the UCI command "go". If I understand your description above correctly, the GUI can use this command to implement the "Next Best" and "Analyze Threat" features. But to repeat something I've said in another thread...

Glaurung 1.2.1 already supports "searchmoves", as does my current development version of Glaurung 2 (more recent than Glaurung Lodz, and not yet public).
