Interesting programs to play - Homer UCI

Post by bedouin »

Nowadays I'm no longer interested in playing the strongest programs as I'm blundering even to weak humans. However I found Homer 2.0 UCI quite interesting. I drew for a change instead of getting hammered. Any other interesting programs you play against. I selected Homer from WBEC because it had an unusual name and was lower than the normal GM strength programs.

Try my LittleThought. It's about the same level as Homer I think and has a difficulty setting = NumBeers which ranges from 0 to 10.

Interesting program. Thanks. Hope you don't mine, using Harry S
book with your engine. Makes the game a little more interesting :)

Good luck,

Gerold.

No problem, my book is just a quick and dirty hack to stop it playing opening moves even I know are stupid.

If you want something that makes more mistakes than Homer, then try Chad's chess.

Well, Chad's is perhaps overdoing it a little, as there seems no logic to how badly it usually blunders. As a compromise, I would suggest micro-Max. After all, if you want to beat a computer, it seems logical to start with the smallest engine in the World...
