Chess Revival

Post by fern »

I have been out of the city the last couple of days in a lovely house of a friend, facing the sea. So I came back full of strength and I played this morning a long game against a friend rated 2300 and I trounced him in 37 moves, with even an splendid sacrifice in the middle.
Which, for God sake, is the relation between the player I was in those moments and the player I was losing to a patzer 3 days ago?
I will tell you:
Goddess Caissa knew of my disappointment and let me get something to re-hook me, as she always does.
She is that nasty....

GM Ferdinand regards

Next week, when your 2300 rated friend beats a 2500 player, he may ask the same question as you just asked, replacing 'patzer' with 'Fernando'. In friendly games, there are many reasons why you as an individual or you as a team can lose to a weaker competitor. In an important game the stronger side will usually grind out a win if it needs to.

That's very truth. Nevertheless, it is always disappointing. After playing a good or decent game, you think "this is my level, at last from now on I will go up the ladder or at least keep myself here".
And no. You sooner or later again lose an stupid game.

congrats on your Revival Fern

a good couple of days by the Sea will always work wonders to clear the mind from workaday troubles and improves the chess ability
especially when your friend is rated 2300 USCF which is 1700 Elo

i of course am forced to toil and slave here like a dog posting results from my testing for which i receive nothing and the closest i get to the sea is the water in my toilet bowl

Slave Labor Regards

Hahahahahahahaha

You are a bloody funny pal.
No, I am talking of an European 2300 player elo, not the preposterous and democratic US elo with which even the guy that advice Bush for Middle East issues is an IM.
BTW, if you want to be nearer the sea with your toilet, just put inside the head as you flush it hard. You can imagine a delicious wave has caught you in the beaches of Jamaica.

Always comforting you regards
Fernando
