This was briefly mentioned in another thread, but there seems to not be an answer to this problem. With SCID, I can see the top-most options for the Fruit 2.3 engine but not the bottom-most. With Arena, it's the other way around (the top-most options are not visible). Dragging the window around does not produce any change in what is displayed -- a portion of the options is simply chopped off and not displayed despite dragging windows around on the screen in an attempt to expose the missing portion of the options.
My screen resolution is 1680 x 1050 on one system and 1400 x 1050 on another system.
Any help is appreciated,
Roy

The 070327 version has fewer UCI options so the UCI option screen should fit on the screen. The 2.3 release is the 070327 version with more UCI options and Search Focus set to 1.

I hope we're not endlessly going to get multiple, similar-strength versions of Fruit/Gambit Fruit. That would totally skew the testing systems and engine tournaments and waste everybody's time.
In next week's Fruit we change just one parameter (again). We look forward to seeing how it does in every one's gauntlets. And thanks to all those who run Fruit-only tournaments. Way to go!

Hi Arnold,
While there must be good reasons for a systematic approach of this kind, I wonder who you're quoting, and from where?
Btw, as lonf as no testing is done, you have no prove that the strength is similar, however likely, that's often why testing is conducted. Another matter is style; with a great variety of parameters to fiddle with, the must exists many possibillities of different styles, even with similar strenghts.
Best,

Hi Henrik,
I wasn't quoting anyone. I used neither quote tags nor quotation/speech marks. I merely adopted a different (tone of) voice.
You mention "a great variety of parameters to fiddle with...". My focus was different. I expressed a fear of a great variety of versions - multiple and frequent versions, all released to the public, sometimes or often with very minor changes, sometimes or often with changes that have unknown precise effects on playing strength. I would rather have a few versions that can be more thoroughly tested. I have no objections to there being a great variety of parameters to fiddle with; I would have objections to each fiddle with the parameters being issued as a new version.

Ok Arnold
That explains it to me. And I tend to agree more than a bit, btw
Though, so far there seems to be enough differences in the versions I've played with, for me to consider them as interesting objects for testing. Noted it is, that 2.3 and beta X1 is nearly identical.

Re: Fruit 2.3 : Cannot see all engine options in Arena or SC
The only Fruit releases I will be making are minor bug fixes. I use Fruit as one of the engines to test against for Chess-64 and did find a bug in Fruit from studying the pgn's today. The bug was a simple typo that I fixed on my computer but will wait for other reports of bugs just in case as I don't want to confuse people by releasing multiple patches. I expect the bug has very little ELO affect but it does make some of the bishop moves in the midgame look ugly. This is something computer chess fans are used to seeing from other engines anyway.AGove wrote:Hi Henrik,

Re: Fruit 2.3 : Cannot see all engine options in Arena or SC
I didn't think an engine could have so many options, so the display in Scid is made into a window with no scrollbar : I will try to add one (the dialog window is dynamically built after getting engine's published parameters, so things are not that easy).royb wrote:With SCID, I can see the top-most options for the Fruit 2.3 engine but not the bottom-most. It is fixed now in latest Scid : all options can be seen.
