PGN notation of en passant

Post by cms271828 »

Hi, does anyone know the official way to describe an en passant capture in pgn notation, is it just...
5. cxd6ep OR
5. cxd6 ep

Also if there is a check/checkmate, at the same time as the en passant, how would you write it?

Thanks

From the PGN specification, neither:
En passant captures do not have any special notation; they are formed as if the captured pawn were on the capturing pawn's destination square.
So it would be just 5. cxd6 or 5. cxd6#.
