Hi Fernando,
As a respected chess warrior like myself,I bring to your attention my lowest engine division, where you can draw most of them and win over some of them and still to get enough challenge :D
The first number is the rating of the engine and the second is the earned points from the played games....
64 engines are waiting,shall we....

Thanks doc, in fact have some f them and I play them and I beat them most of the time. And of course, as 2000 player more o less, they are not easy prey. Nevertheless, I am quiet capable of losing to even CC7 in a bad day. My game is so incredible irregular....

Doc, if you think the ratings are fairly accurate, do you happen to have a list in the 1600 to 1900 range. These, if close in accuracy, are a tad bit over my head.

TJChess, Cefap and TSCP should be significantly stronger than Eden 0.0.11 in its base version (although Cefap always loses one-on-one). Don't know about the server version or if you're even using it.

Don't know about the server version, but all these engines played enough games at long time control and this is the rating they get 8-)

I wouldn't try to conclude too much from the ratings gained from engine-engine matches. They'd only make sense if calibrated with some engine-human play.

That said, the release schedule for my engine Eden is specifically designed for someone to find the right level of play that is challenging but not too challenging. So if you find 0.0.11 too strong, you can drop down to version 0.0.9 or 10 and see how you do with that one.

I do include some other features such as WB support in the newer versions (I also fix some bugs), but in general the rule should hold that there is an almost linear relationship between version number and strength. Try to run an Eden-only tournament to confirm or refute my claim!

Unfortunately, my Web server is causing trouble with PHP right now, so it'll be hard to find Eden versions to download. You can use the direct download links, however, based on this model:
http://www.czempin.de/nicolai/blog/arch ... 0.0.11.zip

Just be careful with version 10, it went through a few iterations before becoming useable with WB.

Incidentally, I tried to make the engine play as human-like as possible, and I feel that to a certain extent, I have succeeded (for a fairly low-rated player). You can try playing Apilchess for a counter-example to that goal :-) Of course, if you use your own opening library many of such problems will disappear, because that far into the middle game tactics should be much more dominant than "natural-looking moves".

Thanks for this useful information :D
Note that I play myself all the engines in my rating list at least two games,so the human factor is involved one way or the other....

Well, if you don't know then it's likely NOT the server version (you have to play with the settings to let it use a different Java VM, one which many people don't even have installed).

What time control did you use, and did you use a standard opening library or did you just use the engines "out of the box" (which may explain my engine's unexpected success; in some tournaments with standard openings I am at a disadvantage against engines such as Apilchess).

All in all let me just say that I'm happy that my engine hasn't fallen out of the bottom yet (although it could have been an even higher incentive to release that version 0.0.12 :-))
