Perhaps we should exclude Vasik. He really delivered certain informations here. Amir certainly talked here and gave informations. But usually commercial guys dont contribute. There is no open debate between Freeware and Commercial Software people. Further since only new programs are under control and never the established big ones we never know how progress is being made. I often fell unconscious when I read how e.g. in CRAFTY documentary every little news is saved for public eyes and in the next championship or tournament CRAFTY fails to win. How could a free program ever WIN? If all the information is given away for free?

That makes a basic double bind in the daily life of computerchess. It isnt fair.

In fact we shouldn't be concerned about Vas. He posts nearly every other day in the Rybka forum :)

Vasik really is a singular event.

I'd really like to know how Don and Kathe Spracklen are doing aside from chess programming. I'd also like to hear their views on the current state of chess engine programming.

And I wish Chris Whittington would throw in his two cents, too. :)

warm regards

Fritz Reul is posting some programming questions on the programming sub-forum. Actually I was surprised by that since some commercial programmers are still asking questions on programming.

Alex Naumov is posting here also, answering some questions about the latest Naum. I think Naum lacks public attention. It is very strong and third only to Rybka and Zapchess.

Vasik is posting here sometimes about some matches Rybka participated in.

I think that authors of commercial engines would post less here.

Why? Because you learn more by listening or reading than by talking or posting. :)
