Wish you best of success for your 1st Freestyle Cup!

FIGCS "Tournament Rules" say:

"If several players obtain the best score and the best Sonnenborn-Berger, they will share the prize."

With only 6 rounds it's very likely that two or more players will achieve "the best score", but let's wait and see...

The rule seems very logical and fair.
Not sharing the prize in case of a tie is questionable.
Generally in online chess events, too many participants do not finish the tournaments. Therefore Sonneborn-Berger is pretty meaningless.

I didn't say prizes should not be shared. I just pointed out, that "with only 6 rounds it's very likely" that we will see a tie. If anything could be read out of my posting, so the wish to have more rounds, but of course that's completely up to the organisers.

Hello Arno, thanks for sharing your views !

It took quite a long time & discussion before to choose this time control and to decide to play this tournament during consecutive 2 days, which is a lot of time & energy for players already (still relative compared to OTB tournaments)... I first thought about 6 or 7 rounds played on the same day with time control 10 min + 20 sec. but it seems players are definitely more interested to play human-rybka chess than rybka-human chess :)

Anyway I agree, 7 or 9 rounds would be better, definitely... it requires 3 days, so waiting for players opinion after this first tournament.

Best wishes, Thibault

A brief summary about what are E-Points was very necessary, I've just added some explanations and links in Help section and terms and conditions (Membership). See the FICGS chess freestyle tournaments rules and this summary about what are E-Points...

Feel free to ask for more explanations if something's still unclear... About the freestyle cup :

"FIDE GM & IM, FICGS / ICCF GM, SM & IM are invited to enter the waiting list for free until one week before the start of the tournament ! .. Please just send a message to webmaster through My account page to register. You may be asked to send a copy of your passport or ID card.

An extra fee, usually 30% of the entry fee, will be added to the entry fee 7 days before the start of the tournament. "

Best wishes, Thibault
