Hello Thorsten,
I could not quite figure out yet on the German forum if for the Mephisto III emulation we have to download the ROM images too? Or is it now integrated in the emulator? I have not read the whole thead.
I think it could be a nice sparringpartner for not so strong players like me because in some areas of the game it has really good knowledge but in other cases it probably misses things because of the extremely selective search tree. 4 Nodes per second you said?
You probably would have to find a copy of the manual to operate it because I never had a computer like this myself. That there is no visual board is not such a big problem if you play a longer game with it, with a real board and pieces.

Re: what thomas nitsche is doing in the moment
1. the emulator comes without rom.
2. the roms you will get on my home page, in the article about mephisto III part 5 etc. there you will also get information about this program.
3. you will find links to the manuals of mephiIII in the thread about the emulator at schachcomputer.info.
