Excuse me, I over-emphasized playing site (or better site of the organisation) with the potential participation of many nations; and then it was an internet event above all. Was it ever discussed whether computerchess programming is an exclusive pass time of the First World countries? Hardware cant be the main factor? Telling factor perhaps: at the university of Erlangen (Germany) over 300 students began the studies of applied chemistry while only about 100 began in informatik... (computer sciences, computational engineering). (after private information)
