There will be more new versions before long as well, until we stop releasing as we prepare for the next tournament event... then we will pick back up again. This has been a pretty long "dead zone" for releases, but we have tried and discarded a lot of changes. The current version is definitely better than anything we have had in the past, verified by hundreds of thousands of test games...

I quit doing executables. It was a real pain. I couldn't do windows executables anyway, and linux executables are a pain with different linux versions of libraries, 32 vs 64 bit systems, etc...

Bob,

Can Crafty 21.6 play vs another engine with 4 threads on the same quad-core computer without using cpu-time on the opponents move?

I will have to check. I am not sure whether that fix is in or if it got lost in all the changes we ended up with...

A slight mishap with my numbering scheme. It is 21.6, not 20.16

Hm, crafty tells me I need a new book:

ERROR! book.bin not made by version 20.17 or later

Are the books on the ftp outdated?

And a second question, are there any special tournament books available for crafty?
