CM11 Limited Shuffle variant

Post by David Dahlem »

Reading through the readme file of Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition about the 16 different variants available in online play, i'm not sure i understand the Limited Shuffle variant.

- Limited Shuffle: - Chess variant where the starting position is randomly generated from the following constraints:
- the pawns and rooks are placed as in a normal set-up;
- the white king starts on d1 or e1 and the black king starts on d8 or e8
- bishops are always on opposite colors.

In the description of the other variants, castling status is mentioned as well as whether the White and Black setup is "mirrored", but these rules are not mentioned in the description of this variant. Anyone know these rules, and how many different opening setups are possible?

Of course, if it exists, i would like an .epd or .pgn file of all these possible positions. :-)

Thanks
Dave
