How do I - create a Shredder Book?

Post by Shaun »

Sorry new to Shredder...

Any help greatfully received.

I have just tried to create a book using Deep Shredder 11.

I started with the database GrandNd (thanks Norm)

In Shredder from the Extra Menu

Opening Book -> New Opening book

I called it GenericNP

I then Loaded this empty book

Opening Book -> Load Opening book

Imported the games

Opening Book -> Import Games

Selected the database

Pressed the Import button

Import Statistics checked

Absolute Length set to 24 plies

Pressed the OK button - it took a while about 50 thousand games loaded sucessfully however... I don't have any stats/weightings for number of games or results???

e.g. The probability is set 7.1% for all moves from the opening position.

I tried again (new book) this time with Import Lines selected in case I misread the help.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

Hi

I did what you said with the last convekta games pack:

http://chessok.com/pgn/November_1.zip

And I got a book with different probs., for example e4 44.3%, d4 39.9%,...

Have you tried with another pgn?

Besides with right click on the opening books, then book options. Is use statistics checked? if uncheck, then every move is 0% of course, but no 7,1%

By the way what is that ECO A37f, is that "f" normal? This can be the cause of the problem

I see that all or a lot of games in the database have a lower case letter after the ECO code, D14c, B16d,... AFAIK the ECO code is just a capital letter and two numbers, so perhaps Shredder does not recognize the code and so can not generate the probs.
