Vista 64

I have a slight issue, if anyone have a quick help that would be nice. My hiarcs 11.2 or even the previous versions doesn't show the learning file when I add those programs/versions under the new Fritz 11 (GUI).


I own Windows Vista 64 bit version. It does appear to be Vista issue, does anyone face same problem and have solution for that?



I emailed Mark to notify about this issue and to help other hiarcs users if they have the same problem.

Vista's tightened "security" might prevent Hiarcs from storing anything inside a subfolder of Program Files (x86). Try moving it somewhere else.

I tried desktop and still not working. Gosh Had to be very tight security on Vista. What should I look for to losen up the security or easiest route to fix this?

Have you tried searching under C:\Documents and Settings\?

I've heard that Vista saves some files there (So, the Hiarcs's learn file would be on one of the many folders in there.)

Silly! I found out what is the problem. User Account Control (UAC) Has to be turned off and when I did it does show the learning files. But What about I want to keep it open for security? Just not cool with vista. I will try that Ulysses P

On my machine with Vista Premium x64 location of learn file, and a couple of others:

C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\HIARCS Chess\HIARCS 11.2 MP UCI

UAC is also enabled.
