Depth/Ply?
Can someone give me a basic idea of Depth/Ply and is there a way to adjust?

There is a way to adjust ply, play less moves or more moves.
For the depth question a joke comes to mind. Two guys went over to staten island, and the decided to take a leak by the verazano bridge. The first one said "Darn this water is so cold" and the second one said, yes indeed, and it is deep too.

Please do yourself a favor and check out the link I have included. There are tons of articles (albeit addressing Chessbase products) with subjects that no doubt you will find interesting.
