surprisingly crafty 21.06!

Post by Murx »

Hello there

I am verry surprised about the playingpower of crafty 21.06!
Here some games with long time controls:
All opponents had superior hardware. My machine is Intel Quad 3,0GHz which gives crafty a speed between 4500 and 7500 Kns.
Regards, Clemens Keck

Well I am not so surprised with the results in that 3 games and I guess
you know the reason already ;-)

Crafty left book quite better in game 1 but drew.
In game 2 Crafty was winning already after book end.
In game 3 Rybka was lost already after book end.

You used a very good book.

Hello Guenther

indeed the book variants of craftys opponents where not the best. But I remember lots of games played in the past with crafty. It was in that times as 19 and 20 series where out. At that time a good book variation was not enough for crafty. Too often it blunders against strong opponents.
It feels like this has changed. Also I have the feeling that long time controls are good for crafty.

Whatever Wael, you and your conspiracy theories. I really want to say Nigga please> For me the best version was 17.14 until the release of 21.5, and then 21.6 showed even better improvement.

21.6 in my testing is the best version to date. (Well of the released versions)

Now Clemen's is not using Crafty's default book, so the results will totally be YMMV when using a compiled book.bin.

I have an excellent book for Crafty, built by Crafty. Not huge, but terrific openings.

As some will ask for it, I will post it on the website when I get home tonight.

Peter
I was kicked out of Chapters because I moved all the Bibles to the fiction section.

Thanks Peter, I used your book for 21.5, I believe it did not work with 21.6, so I had to use Jim's book for it. You can release both the crafty 217 and the book tonight if you like. <Borat accent>You are very nice, how much?<Borat accent>

I'm also impressed by Crafty 21.6 and would expect it to eventually move ahead of the other versions in the CCRL list.
