First-ever live Freestyle event

Post by Anson Williams »

A historic event recently was completed in Benidorm, Spain--the first-ever live Freestyle tournament. You'll never guess who won. :)

Here's the main tournament site, Spanish fluency is required.

Thanks a lot guys. It was a really interesting experience. It's been absolutely ages since I've played in a tournament OTB and it's also the first time I had to record the moves as the game progressed.

If there is another similar tournament, I hope it is in London :)

How much money did you win? If you win enough for the plain ticket, hotel, and the days that you took off from work, then you cant complain even if it is in say Uganda.

It would be great if you could use Rybka against Anand in a simultanious. Wonder the match outcome??

At least, a short information about this tournament would be good in Wikipedia, because it was the first live Freestyle Chess event. I noticed that the english Wikipedia redirects "freestyle chess" to the advanced chess article which covers it:
