Thanks for this Analysis Uri, but Rybka has not MORE time if is a Blitzgame or rapid game.
BTW: What is Your opinion for my Example 2 (I lost it on playchess)? I see totally wrong Rybka moves and a totally wrong Rybka analysis! One everyone FM should be a World Champion if he can get this position in my example 2, for sure!

Every chess program (or human player) makes mistakes. Otherwise, they win every game. Rybka clearly makes less mistakes than other chess engines or it would not have a stupendous Elo.Edward German wrote:Thanks for this Analysis Uri, but Rybka has not MORE time if is a Blitzgame or rapid game.

Recent MES studies have shown me that Rybka does not understand fortresses. But that is OK, because you are almost never going to get the opportunity to build one anyway.
It seems to me that a good heuristic for knowing when to try to build a fortress is:
1. I am behind in material (else, why bother?)
2. We are deep in the endgame (won't work with a lot of pieces anyway)
3. A deep search shows a growing, negative eval (I might be ahead in material, but I can achieve draw by repeated check or some other easy manoever. Also, I might have a tactical shot like a fork or skewer that will pull my material back even).
4. I have access to an edge (I don't know how to build a fortress without using the edge of the board, but I suppose it can be done?).

Sorry but I believe that my criticism and the two games are OK. Also Rybka may be criticized, ok?
